No tax preparation experience is necessary to get involved. All tax and software training is provided.

All training can be completed online, at your own pace. Training depends on the volunteer role. When you sign up for a volunteer shift, you will receive links to youtube videos of recommended volunteer training. You will also receive additional training the day of your volunteer shift.

Volunteer shifts are mostly on Saturdays beginning in late January and typically run through April. We do have year-round volunteer shifts depending on your skills and availability. Send us an email at admin@tax-aid.org for more information.

Our tax site locations are all over the San Francisco Bay Area. We will have our volunteer schedule available in December. Please check back then.

You are not. You are projected by the Volunteer Protection Act. We recommend you watch the Welcome Video above for more information about ethics and working with clients.

Yes. When you sign up for a volunteer shift, make sure you check in with the site manager volunteer the day of the event. They will log your attendance and you will be able to access this through your volunteer personal dashboard.
